Dale was born August 26, 1954 in Marshfield, the son of Virgil and Shirley (Schmidt). He graduated from Columbus High School and later spent two years at Mid-State Technical College learning a carpentry and welding trade. Two trades that would later be one of many successes in Dale’s life. Another success Dale had was his marriage to his best friend Deborah Eckes on October 22, 1977 at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church in Marshfield.
His work career included being a meat cutter/butcher at The Parkway Grocery Stores in Marshfield, working in maintenance and as a truck driver for Prince Corp. in Marshfield, as a ready-mix truck operator for Trierweiler Ready Mix in Marshfield. Along with that he and Deborah owned and operated “Dale’s Digging and Handyman Service for over 20 years, Angus Mountain Farm for 15 years as well as many home building projects, business construction projects, countless jobs both big and small and yes working with 1000’s of yards of pouring concrete. He loved his concrete projects and prided himself on the same.
For those who knew him as Dale he was a dedicated husband, dad and papa. He was a man of integrity and loyalty. Dale loved spending time with family. For those who knew him as “Folzie” he was hard working, loved to laugh, always ready to help and give you a hard time, enjoyed conversations with friends and expected you to know how to use a “bull float”
Dale was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, a former member of the McMillian Fire Department also acting as the fire chief for a period of time in all serving over 25 years with the department, a member of The Elks Lodge 665 of Marshfield, a 4th Degree member of the Father John Eisen Council #1799 of the Knights of Columbus in Marshfield and the Fraternal Order of Eagles 624 of Marshfield.
His greatest hobbies were helping others, taking care of family and friends and his cattle, doing some hunting, enjoying a delicious chocolate shake from McDonald’s and laughter.
