James A. “Jim” Hoffman, 85, of Marshfield, passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2022 at his home in Marshfield.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1PM on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Spencer with Rev. Barry Saylor officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather at the church on Tuesday from 12Noon until time of service.
James was born at home in Unity on January 18, 1937 to Albert and Ellen (Morrison) Hoffman. He was a 1955 graduate of Colby High School. He was the owner and operator of a jersey dairy farm (Cloverbelt Jerseys). In 1986, Jim sold his farm and worked at Land O’ Lakes in Spencer until he retired.
Jim enjoyed playing card games such as 7-Up, Pinnacle and Sheepshead, gardening at his home, and watching sports. While on the farm, he supported the local 4-H program. He enjoyed taking care of his Jerseys, Shetland ponies, dogs, and various farm animals.
Jim is survived by his sister, Winifred Kerksieck and his nieces and nephews, Robert (Dinah) Kerksieck of Ames, IA, Phillip (friend, Tammy Brunette) Kerksieck of Green Bay, and Geralyn (friend, D.J. Marshall) Kuehn of Nekoosa, Billie Kerksieck (nephew Rodney’s wife) of Granton and four great nieces and four great nephews.
He is reunited in heaven with his parents, Albert and Ellen Hoffman, his sister, Dorothy Hoffman, brother-in-law Frederick Kerksieck, nephews Rodney Kerksieck, Dean Kerksieck, Michael Kerksieck and niece Mary Kerksieck.
We would like to thank the Aster House Assisted Care Facility where Jim lived and the DaVita Dialysis Center where Jim received treatment for over 12 years. He spoke fondly of the staff and made many friends at both of these facilities.
